Studio Adrien Gardère and textile designer Reiko Sudo, artistic director of NUNO Inc., are renewing their collaboration for the eighth time on the occasion of the “Tokyo Creative Salon Nihonbashi 2025.” Alongside Seiichi Saito, they present a new iteration of the iconic installation “Koinobori Now!” in the atrium of the Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower. For this Tokyo edition, the installation is reinvented under the theme “Nihonbashi Open Craft,” incorporating original materials and patterns inspired by the Nihonbashi district.
Designed in dialogue with local artisans and businesses, the installation pays tribute to Japan’s textile heritage through 11 entirely new koinobori, featuring distinctive elements such as furisode kimono fabrics, tenugui (traditional Japanese hand towels), and specially created iconic patterns for the exhibition. A tactile area also invites visitors to explore the richness of the textiles on display.
