Studio Adrien Gardère reunites with Reiko Sudo, a leading figure in Japanese textile design and founder of NUNO, for a new collaboration around the installation Fanfare: Dance of Fans.
Conceived to showcase the richness of traditional Japanese dyeing and weaving techniques that inspire NUNO’s creations, the installation merges ancestral craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology to imagine textiles of unprecedented textures and patterns.
First presented in 2017 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., Dance of Fans has since travelled to the UK, Mito, and Takaoka, captivating audiences at each of its international venues.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Matsuya Ginza department store, the installation is presented for the first time in Tokyo in a monumental version, suspended within the atrium that spans all seven floors of the building. This new interpretation, the most spectacular to date, unfolds its aerial composition over 25 meters in height.
