Since 2005, Studio Adrien Gardère has overseen the artistic direction and design of all exhibitions and installations for the international festivals of the Kennedy Center, the largest performing arts center in the United States.
EARTH to SPACE: Arts Breaking the Sky — the 13th international festival orchestrated by the Studio — transforms the Kennedy Center’s 8,000 square meters into a space for dialogue between the arts and sciences. For three weeks, astronauts, musicians, researchers, visual artists, poets, and engineers share perspectives to explore the deep connections between Earth and the cosmos.
In response to today’s environmental challenges, EARTH to SPACE celebrates wonder and innovation as powerful tools to spark new imaginaries of life. Each installation invites visitors to rethink our place in the universe, blending space exploration, ecological awareness, and artistic creation.
The Studio developed the overall artistic direction of the festival, supervising the design of around ten major installations, including From Earth to Space and Back by Foster + Partners; Covering Letter (Terranum Nuncius) by Jitish Kallat; Fans of the Blue Planet by Reiko Sudo; and Celebrating Women in Space History by Karen Nyberg.
