The museum of Islamic Art of Cairo, with over 3 500 m2 of permanent galeries, houses the second largest collection of Islamic art in the world.
In 2003, Zahi Hawass, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt, chose the Studio Adrien Gardère, to carry out the complete renovation of the museum. 
The Studio Adrien Gardère has the artistic direction and supervision of the whole project, which includes the renovation of the building, - built in 1903 - the entire redistribution of the collection, new flows within the museum, and a completely new museography.
This project is supported by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture and benefits from  the scientific cooperation and expertise of the Musée du Louvre.
The museum was officially inaugurated by President Hosny Moubarak in August 2010, and opened to the public in October 2010.
In May 2011, the Studio Adrien Gardère won the International Award - Highly Commended Prize from Museums+Heritage for his renovation and design of the Cairo Islamic Art Museum.

Le musée d’Art Islamique du Caire, musée de plus de 3500 m2 d’exposition permanente, possède la deuxième plus grande collection d’art islamique au monde.
En 2003, Zahi Hawass, Secrétaire Général des Antiquités Egyptiennes, fait appel au Studio Adrien Gadère pour mener à bien la restructuration complète du musée.
Le Studio Adrien Gardère a la direction artistique et la supervision du projet qui inclue la rénovation du bâtiment, datant de 1903, la redistribution des collections, de nouvelles circulations et une toute nouvelle muséographie. 
Ce projet est soutenu par L'Aga Khan Trust for Culture et bénéficie d’une coopération scientifique avec le département des arts de l’Islam du Musée du Louvre. Le Studio Adrien Gardère supervise l’ensemble de ce projet, sa direction  artistique, son design et sa muséographie.
Le musée a été officiellement inauguré par le Président Hosny Moubarak en août 2010, et a ouvert ses portes au public en octobre de la même année.

En Mai 2011, le Studio Adrien Gardère a reçu le prix "International Award - Highly Commended" décerné par Museums+Heritage, pour la rénovation et le design du musée d'Art Islamique du Caire.
